Why Robert chose to leave a gift in his will to Diabetes Victoria
Pen to paper...
“(Writing a will) is not hard if you know what you want, all you’re doing is giving something that you’ve achieved over a long period of time,” he says.
“The best thing to do is to put pen to paper.”
Robert encourages everyone to write a will and says the decision to
leave a gift to Diabetes Victoria was simple. It’s an organisation and community he cares about.
“I decided to give five percent to Diabetes Victoria, I feel as though they can use that money to help someone else, the same way they helped me,” he says.
“I probably wouldn’t have been able to survive this long if I didn’t find out I have diabetes.
“Diabetes Victoria delivers education programs and resources that helped me.
“I’ve written a will a couple of times as the kids grew up to make sure we had everything in order.
“I spoke to my wife before she passed away and to my stepson and daughter. I can’t give everything to other people, but I can give five percent to Diabetes Victoria.”
Watch Robert tell his story here.
Every day, 90 Victorians develop diabetes. Help us reduce the impact by arranging a gift in your will to Diabetes Victoria.
A gift of as little as one percent of your estate will support our research to develop improved technology, treatments, and ultimately find a cure.
