Cost of Pharmaceutical Benefit Scheme (PBS) medications in 2025
Usually on 1 January each year, the cost of PBS medications increases in line with indexation. Indexation is a standard process used to adjust the value of government programs for changes in the level of prices, living costs or wages. There is good news! This will not happen in 2025 due to the price freeze that was delivered as part of the 2024-25 Federal budget. The price of PBS scripts for 2025 will remain capped at the 2024 pricing.

Cost of NDSS diabetes supplies 2025
On 1 January 2025, the copayment amount towards NDSS products will increase in line with indexation. This happens every year. During December check your NDSS supplies such as glucose monitoring strips, CGM sensors and pump supplies and access your supplies at the 2024 pricing.

The Medicare Safety Net can help to lower your out-of-pocket medical costs for out of hospital services once reached. If you have already reached your Safety Net for 2024, try to organise any reviews or tests before the end of 2024 to take advantage of the higher rebate paid to you.
