Share your experience to help others
Healthily produce and distribute a series of educational videos called ‘Speaking from experience’ to GPs who then provide relevant videos to their patients.
You can see an example of their previous videos featuring young people and adults speaking about their personal stories of living with type 1 diabetes, here.
These videos were produced some years ago and Healthily have asked us to work with them to produce a new set of videos on type 1 diabetes.
Who we're looking for
- People living with type 1 diabetes
- People from each of these two age groups;
- young people (aged 18 – 25 years) and
- adults (aged over 25 years)
What to expect
You need to be happy to discuss various areas of your life with diabetes in front of a camera. There will be an interviewer, asking questions. You will not be asked to provide any information which you are not comfortable sharing.
The topics discussed will include areas such as:
- diagnosis
- learning about diabetes
- managing diabetes
- hypos
- diabetes and its impact on life and work
- where you find support
What you need to do
The production of these videos would require participants to be able to attend a studio (near the Melbourne CBD) on one of two days in June (to be decided but probably Wednesday 5 or Thursday 11 June) and answer questions for an hour or so.
Each participant will receive a $50 gift voucher to thank you for your time and for sharing their stories.
This is a wonderful way to share your thoughts and feelings on life with diabetes with other people, some of whom have possibly just been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. It is a chance to share those ‘if only someone had told me’ moments with others who may be needing that information right now.
More information about the video series and some frequently asked questions are available here.
