Type1Screen offers antibody testing to children and young adults to determine if they are at risk of developing type 1 diabetes.

Who can be involved?

People found to be at high risk of developing type 1 diabetes are monitored closely and referred to their nearest diabetes centre for education, support and access to current clinical trials and other research that aims to prevent type 1 diabetes.

Participation requirements are:

  • People aged between 2 to 30 years, AND
  • Live in Australia OR New Zealand, AND
  • Have a relative diagnosed with type 1 diabetes OR
  • Have previously had a positive antibody test.
