About ACADI
The Australian Centre for Accelerating Diabetes Innovations (ACADI) is a national project. It focuses on tackling diabetes with new ideas.
Funded by the government’s MRFF via the TTRA program (managed by MTPConnect), ACADI operates as a virtual collaborative network.
It brings together over 60 organisations. These include universities, health services, patient advocates, and industry partners.
Professor Elif Ekinci, a top researcher in metabolic medicine at the University of Melbourne, leads ACADI. This initiative aims to improve the lives of people with diabetes at every stage. Their work focuses on early diagnosis, prevention, and management of serious complications of the disease.
ACADI aims to create advanced solutions for diabetes. This includes better diagnostic tools, more effective prevention strategies, and improved treatments. They achieve this by combining research and development with a national training program for healthcare workers and a long-term sustainable plan.
ACADI aims to improve the quality of life and lifespan for all Australians with diabetes. A critical element of their work is addressing health inequities. ACADI dedicates itself to giving all Australians equal access to new treatments and clinical trials.
