Types of volunteering

You can volunteer with Diabetes Victoria in a variety of ways.

  • Ongoing – volunteering regularly in ongoing tasks; such as assembling packs for mail-outs

Volunteer at our Campbellfield Collections Warehouse

We recognise the important work of volunteers in our organisation and are extremely grateful for their wonderful contribution and support of the diabetes community. Becoming a part of the Diabetes Victoria Volunteer family means those people affected by our the fastest growing chronic condition will greatly benefit from your contribution of your time.

The volunteering opportunity with Diabetes Victoria Campbelfield Warehouse is part of the work we do in partnership with Savers, as Diabetes Victoria and Savers stores have a longstanding partnership that spans over 25 years. As part of this partnership, Savers accepts donations on behalf of Diabetes Victoria and purchases the donated items from Diabetes Victoria. The funds collected through this partnership are then used to support vital diabetes research and programs for the diabetes community in Victoria.

By donating to Diabetes Victoria through Savers, people are contributing to this important cause and help make a difference in the lives of those living with, or at risk of diabetes in Victoria.

Warehouse volunteer tasks

Working at our Campbellfield warehouse you will be responsible for picking and packing pre-loved clothing and small household items into boxes and containers for our dedicated truck drivers to send to our partner, SAVERS.

All work instructions are clearly outlined to all volunteers in clear, easy to understand terms in plain English.

The work environment is friendly, enjoyable and provides a place to go to feel good about yourself and your contribution to a worthy cause! We ensure a safe working environment with strict adherence to Work Health Safety requirements. We provide all packing materials and safety equipment to get the items into our fleet of trucks each day. The proceeds from on selling our donated goods are directed towards initiatives that fulfill our mission including raise funds for diabetes research, life-changing education programs, campaigns and camps for children living with diabetes.

Volunteer at diabetes camps

As Diabetes Camps Victoria run throughout the entire year, recruitment for camp volunteers occurs at different times for each respective camp.

If you have submitted an expression of interest form, you will be contacted within one month of expressing interest.

As we receive many applications for limited places on camp, it may not be possible to offer you a place for the most upcoming camp but we may add you to a waitlist for future camps later in the year.

Camps run the most efficiently when there is a team of experienced and new volunteers. Because of this, some volunteer places are offered to experienced volunteers and some volunteer places are offered to new applicants for each camp.
