A Father’s Plea for Type 1 Diabetes Awareness

Jayden kindly shares his family's journey with diabetes and how they are holding hope for the future.

I’d always held stigmas about anyone with diabetes, through nothing other than my own ignorance. Our daughter’s diagnosis has opened my eyes to what I now understand is a life-threatening medical condition that can happen to anyone

Harper’s diagnosis made me realise how little we know about type 1 diabetes and the challenges that come with it.

I would like people to sit for a minute and think about what they know about diabetes.

Some may be as naïve as I was before our journey began, others may be among the amazing people contributing to improving the lives of those living with type 1 and other types of diabetes.

I’ve witnessed firsthand the stigmas and hardship that this condition brings, not only for those with it, but also for carers, families and friends.

I want to see a future where no one has to face this, which is why more research, and more support is so important.

We hold hope. We have optimism for what the future may hold. The advancements that have been made towards a cure are incredible.

If these last 18 months have taught me anything, it’s that we still have a long way to go in acknowledging how big this diabetes epidemic is and addressing the myths and stigmas that all people living with diabetes must deal with daily.

Donate before June 30 and join us on the path to a cure.
