Keep clothes out of landfill and support Diabetes Victoria

As the area manager for a cleaning company, Simon sees the value of Savers collection bins at locations across the city.

“I have a portfolio of properties and about a dozen of them have Diabetes Victoria collection bins,” he explains.

“At one property we noticed the bins were filling up every week.

“I suggested a few properties to Savers where the collection bins would be well placed.

“My mum and my elder sister both have diabetes, so I was keen to support the partnership between Savers and Diabetes Victoria.”

Buildings with a younger, more transient population tend to fill the bins fast.

“A couple of places have one bin each and they could probably do with eight of them, they fill up that quickly,” Simon says.

“My cleaners are there a couple of times a week and will call Savers to let them know when they’re full.

“People donate anything of value, typically clothing, especially clothes the kids have grown out of, and small household items.”

Savers is a for-profit retailer that accepts your donations of clothing and household goods on behalf of nonprofits.

When you donate to a Diabetes Victoria collection bin, Savers pays Diabetes Victoria.

This revenue helps to fund diabetes research, camps for kids living with type 1, diabetes education and support programs.
