Diabetes Victoria’s new CEO said, “I am deeply committed to Diabetes Victoria’s mission to support, empower, and campaign for all those affected by, or at risk of, diabetes.”
“This is a cause for which I have a great passion,” Glen continued. “My son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes some years ago and I decided to become involved in the work of Diabetes Victoria because this condition affects millions of Australians. Above all, the organisation values and respects the lived experience of Victorians affected by diabetes and it will continue to be at the core of everything we do.”
Prior to taking up his role as Diabetes Victoria’s CEO, Glen was a Senior Partner with PwC where he worked for 33 years including 24 years as a Partner. Glen held a range of leadership roles with PwC including leadership of the Transformation practice, leading market facing industry practices and leadership of major client accounts across multiple sectors. Glen advised clients across Health, Government and Corporate Sectors including in the areas of transformation, growth, operations and finance.
“Diabetes is the fastest-growing chronic condition in Australia and, with 80 Victorians developing diabetes every day, the work of Diabetes Victoria has never been more important,” Glen said. “I hope to provide stability and continuity to our community, the organisation and its many valued partners as we continue our important work.”
As the leading charity and peak consumer body working to reduce the impact of diabetes in the Victorian community, Diabetes Victoria has been an active, member-based organisation for nearly 70 years.
Glen said, “Diabetes Victoria offers education, information and support to promote and empower selfmanagement for all people affected by, or at risk of, diabetes, as well as funding vital diabetes research through our support of the Australian Centre for Behavioural Research in Diabetes, in partnership with Deakin University.”
“A critical part of our work is to advocate for people with diabetes, especially in relation to workplace discrimination, driving restrictions, insurance coverage and many more issues where people’s rights are impacted. I look forward to our continued work in advocacy. It is crucial we remain focused on improving the lives of people living with diabetes,” he said.
Glen takes over from previous CEO, Craig Bennett who retired from the organisation after nine years in March.
