2024 Gwen Scott grant program recipients announced

Health professional members of Diabetes Victoria were encouraged to apply for these grants, to pursue further training and professional development to better support the diabetes community.

The following health professional members of Diabetes Victoria have been awarded 2024 Gwen Scott grants:

 

Fawne Merry Nurse Fawne Merry (Baxter Park Medical Centre, Frankston) will receive funding support to complete her Graduate Certificate in Diabetes Management. She has worked in a medical ward for 11 years and wants to better understand how to care for her many patients living with diabetes. She hopes to become a Diabetes Nurse Educator.
Renae_Roll RN Renae Roll will receive funding support to attend the 2024 Australasian Diabetes Congress (ADC) and the Australasian Diabetes Advancements and Technologies Summit (ADATS). Renae will learn about the latest in diabetes technology and clinical best practic
Ivan Chan Dietitian Ivan Chan (Diabetes Victoria) will receive funding support to attend the 2024 Australasian Diabetes Congress (ADC) and the Australasian Diabetes Advancements and Technologies Summit (ADATS). Ivan will learn about the latest in diabetes technology and clinical best practice.
Emily Smith Emily Smith (Western Health, St Albans) will receive funding support to complete her Master of Advanced Nursing. A renal dialysis specialist, she has found that nearly 40% of people with renal failure live with diabetes. It has inspired Emily to seek further study to learn more about diabetes. She is passionate about providing diabetes education in the community when she becomes a qualified diabetes educator.
Lauren Bais Dietitian Lauren Bais (Diabetes Victoria) will receive funding support to complete the PRINCE2 Foundation course in Project Management. Lauren leads the Diabetes Victoria Clinic, and the course will provide her with additional skills to be a more well-rounded project manager.
