Janet, Diabetes Nurse Educator
I started this group when [a]... young adult asked if she could meet others with T1. Being in a rural country town, I was hesitant as I didn't think we would get many members....Our first meeting was held on Nov 14 2022, we had 14 people with diabetes attend! The group has so much more potential with 5 volunteering to join the Committee and planning for an exciting 2023 has begun! We now have a name T1PS and a focus - Thank you TEAM DVPS for your Support your manual and your ongoing encouragement...” - Yarrawonga Mulwala Support Group
Kathy, Allied Health Assistant
The benefits to the group are educational with guest speakers from other Health Professionals, Diabetes Nurse Educator, Dietitian, Exercise Physiologist, Occupational Therapist, Social Workers/Psychologist, Chemist, Continence Victoria, Tai Chi instructor and others over the years. The support in a safe environment the members give each other, the sharing of how people manage their diabetes, the friendships and [camaraderie] have been very rewarding to be involved in” - - HealthAbility Carrington Health Diabetes Support Group
