About this study

The aim of this study is to better understand what people with type 2 diabetes living in rural communities think about taking part in research. Some of the questions, we would like to answer are:

  • How would people with type 2 diabetes living in rural communities like to hear about research studies?

  • What motivates people living in rural communities to take part in diabetes research?

  • What are the barriers for people living in rural communities to take part in diabetes research?

  • What could help to assist more people living in rural communities to take part in diabetes research?

Who can participate?

You are eligible to participate if you are an individual:

  • Living with type 2 diabetes.

  • Aged 18 years old and above.

  • Who can participate in English language.

  • Living in and accessing diabetes treatment in rural Australia.

What will I have to do?

1. Answer a few questions about you to help us describe our study participants in general terms e.g. gender, average age, state/territory that you live in.
2. Take part in an interview (by telephone or video call– whatever you prefer) which will be organised on a day and time that suits you. In the interview, you will have the chance to discuss your thoughts about taking part in diabetes research.
